Agios Isidoros is a charming village on the island of Rhodes that has managed to preserve its authentic character, remaining unaffected by the waves of mass tourism.
Built at the foothills of Mount Attavyros, it is located 63km away from the city of Rhodes and is one of its most quiet villages, with just a few but hospitable inhabitants.
Actually, it is a village that closely follows its customs and traditions, and you will realize this if you happen to be around, mainly during Easter time. It is an especially popular destination for lovers of hiking, as it has trails that lead to the top of Attavyros.
Also, a visit to the monastery of Artamitis, located just before you enter the village, is worth making. It is dedicated to the Evangelist John the Theologian and was built in the 10th century on the ruins of an ancient temple of Artemis.
If you’re seeking a getaway that steers clear of crowded tourist hotspots, Agios Isidoros stands out as a top choice for an alternative holiday experience.
