It is a colorful traditional settlement that still preserves the main manners and customs of the island. The old traditional part of Koskinou is not clearly visible at first glance—modern constructions are the first thing that catch the visitors’ eye—so nothing prepares the visitors for what they are about to see.
Once you walk further, towards the Church of Panagia and the central square, you get lost in the narrow cobbled streets that resemble a labyrinth, and you become enchanted by the beautiful traditional houses with colorful courtyards decorated with all kinds of flowers, looking like a painting. The architecturally unique entrances, with carved doors and magnificent mosaic floors, remain the main features of the houses in Koskinou village.
It is also worth visiting the Traditional House in order to admire samples of local ceramic art and hand-woven textiles. The archaeological site of the medieval fortress is a place of particular interest, as are the chapels of Saint Irene, Saint Marina, Saint Lucas, and the Prophet Elias chapel, which offers a stunning view.
Nearby, you will find the charming Kavourakia Beach.
