Butterflies Valley. A landscape of incomparable natural beauty and one of the most wonderful places worth visiting. It is located in the northern part of the island and is 26 kilometers from the city of Rhodes. The entire valley is crossed by the river Pelekanos. The green park with small waterfalls, little wooden bridges and small lakes offers the visitor a peaceful atmosphere and a unique experience among thousands of butterflies. A nature reserve where the rare butterfly species Panaxia Quadripunctaria is hosted every year. They migrate to breed in the valley, where they live from May to September.
Butterflies Valley is also a protected habitat with the largest forest in Europe, where the Liquidambar Orientalis or Beech trees thrive. Walking the uphill path at the top of the valley, you will be led to the Monastery of Kalopetra, a beautiful place among the pine trees with a wonderful panoramic view.
