Gadoura Dam

Description

Gadoura Dam, nestled near the lovely Laerma village, about 67 km from Rhodes Town, is a unique landscape of natural beauty and one of the most impressive inland attractions in Rhodes.

It is the largest dam on the island and plays a vital role in water supply and agricultural development. Beyond its practical importance, the dam stands out as a remarkable destination for nature lovers and travelers seeking authentic experiences in Rhodes.

Surrounded by gentle hills and verdant landscapes, the artificial lake creates a calm and scenic environment perfect for nature walks. The area is particularly beautiful in the afternoon and at sunset, when the light softens the landscape.

Visitors may encounter the famous Rhodes deer, as the area supports a healthy population, while the reservoir’s rich ecosystem also makes Gadoura Dam an excellent destination for birdwatching, with various bird species visible throughout the year.

How to Get There

Gadoura dam is easily accessible by car. It is recommended to take the road between Lardos and Laerma, as alternative routes are dirt roads and are not suitable unless you have a 4×4 vehicle. After passing through Lardos and heading toward Laerma, turn right by following the relevant road sign.

If you love nature walks, scenic drives, birdwatching, photography, and off-the-beaten-path experiences, Gadoura Dam is definitely worth a stop during your trip to Rhodes.
