Description
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the village of Apolakkia is hosting the Apolakkia Run 2026. The event combines sport, community engagement and the promotion of the area’s natural beauty, attracting runners and visitors from across the island.
The program begins with athlete arrivals and registrations between 08:30 and 10:30 at the square of Apolakkia Village. The 10 km road race starts at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 1,400-meter children’s race for students at 11:20 a.m., while the 5 km road race and the power walking event over the same distance will begin at 12:15 p.m.
Both the start and finish lines will be located in the village square, with the main route extending toward the scenic Apolakkia Dam before returning to the village. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony where winners will receive medals and certificates, while commemorative medals will be given to all participants.
Participation in the Apolakkia Run is free and open to students, independent runners, and registered athletes holding a license from the Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association (SEGAS). The event also has a strong social character, as organizers will collect non-perishable food donations for the charity fund of the Holy Metropolis of Rhodes and the Hellenic Red Cross, supporting people in need while highlighting the cultural and natural heritage of the Apolakkia region.
The Apolakkia Run is organized by the Athletic Academy of Rhodes – College and the Apolakkia Road Race Committee, in cooperation with the SEGAS Dodecanese Association, the Region of South Aegean, the Municipality of Rhodes through DOPAR, and the Cultural Association of Apolakkia.
