Rhodes International Festival

The 19th Rhodes International Festival and South Aegean presents three special concerts on 2, 7 and 8 September at 8:30 pm, set against the magnificent backdrop of the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights in Rhodes Old Town.

Wednesday, 2 September – Maria Callas Opera Gala

The festival opens with an opera gala dedicated to the legendary Greek soprano Maria Callas, marking 49 years since her death. The evening features internationally acclaimed Greek soprano Myrto Papatanasiu and distinguished tenor Manos Kokkonis of the Greek National Opera. They will be accompanied on piano by acclaimed soloist Nikos Kyriosoglou.

The programme includes famous arias and duets from operas by Giacomo Puccini, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi, alongside works for solo piano.

Monday, 7 & Tuesday, 8 September – MOYSA

On 7 and 8 September, the festival welcomes MOYSA – Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall for two different concerts, each featuring a distinct programme and soloists. Conducted by its artistic director and chief conductor Panagiotis Diamantis, MOYSA is taking part in the festival for the second consecutive year.

Founded in 2015 by the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Organisation with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the orchestra has worked with renowned conductors and performed alongside internationally acclaimed soloists and ensembles. It has also appeared at leading concert venues across Greece and Europe. 

For visitors exploring the Medieval Town, Rhodes International Festival offer a wonderful opportunity to experience classical music in one of the island’s most historic settings.
