Ancient Kamiros

Description

Ancient Kamiros or Kameiros, situated on the northwestern coast of Rhodes, is one of the three historic city-states that once thrived on the island, alongside Ialyssos and Lindos.

This archaeological gem lies approximately 33 kilometers from Rhodes Town and is a mere 4 kilometers from the quaint village of Kalavarda.

It was built in three levels, dating at the 3rd century B.C: the Acropolis, which is on top of the hill, the dwelling at the second level and the agora, the doric spring, the altars and the hellenistic temple at the last level.

Ancient Kamiros offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and architectural marvels that characterized the Ancient Greek civilization. An ideal destination for archaeology enthusiasts, with many findings, however, exhibited today at the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, the British Museum and the Louvre Museum.

The admission fee for adults is 6 euros. In the summer months, reaching this site is quite convenient, as there are regular bus services available from Rhodes Town.

If you’re interested in exploring additional places near Ancient Kamiros, we suggest considering the option of renting a car or motorbike for a more flexible and enjoyable experience.
