Asklipio Village

The charming Asklipio village, located in South Rhodes, is about 64 km away from Rhodes Town. It is one of the oldest villages on the island that preserves the traditional Rhodian architecture.

Surrounded by olive trees and virgin pine forest, and just 2 km away from Kiotari Beach, Asklipio will steal your heart. It is no coincidence that it is officially an international destination, as at the international conference Rural Tourism and Sustainable Development Conference, it won the first prize in the theme Excellent Village Destination.

Enjoy your coffee in the traditional cafes, wander in its picturesque alleys and do not forget to visit the main church of the village. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it dates between the 15th – 16th century, decorated with wonderful frescoes of the 16th century. Next to the church, in the old renovated with respect olive press, is the folklore museum of the village.

Going up to the castle of Asklipio the view from its walls is breathtaking. It dominates the northeast of the settlement at an altitude of 250 meters. A knightly fortress whose construction was completed in the 15th century by the Grand Master D’ Aubusson, in order to protect the area and the village.
