Fanes Village

Fanes village, located on the northwest coast of the island, is a coastal community situated 26 kilometers from Rhodes Town and just 12 kilometers from Rhodes Airport.

It is among the oldest villages on Rhodes island, with archaeological findings suggesting origins as far back as 100 BC.

To explore the charm of Fanes, you must stroll to the village center, where you will encounter a vibrant, painted community. This transformation occurred when local youth united to adorn numerous traditional and neglected houses, crafting a stunning panorama. While you are there, be sure to check out the Church of Agios Ioannis, a stunning church located at the highest point of the village, offering fantastic views.

Fanes village has become a favorite among water sports lovers, especially kitesurfers and windsurfers, because its windy beach offers the perfect conditions for these activities. At Fanes Beach, you will also find a small selection of fish taverns.

On your way to Kalavarda, don’t miss visiting the historic church of Sotiras, which hosts one of the largest feasts in Rhodes every year from August 3 to 6.
