Kremasti Village

Kremasti is one of the largest and vibrant villages on the northwest coast of the island of Rhodes. It is located 12 kilometers from the city of Rhodes and just 4 kilometers from the “Diagoras” International Airport.

This seaside village has a range of accommodations and plenty of shops, eateries, and coffee spots to explore. It is also a favored spot for those who love kitesurfing and windsurfing.

In the center of the village is the Holy Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, also known as the Holy Church of Panagia tis Katholikis, where every year from August 14 to 23, takes place one of the largest pilgrimages of the Dodecanese and one of the largest festivals of the island. On the same days, the Panhellenic Handicrafts and Agricultural Economy Exhibition is held, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

The Library in the central aquare is an architectural gem of the Doric style. Built in 1927 at the expense of the Kremasten America “Elpis” association, it has a rich and rare book collection.

If you want to explore the traditional settlement of Kremasti, walk through its narrow streets. One of these roads will lead you to the hill where the Knight’s Fortress of the 14th century AD is located. Today, are preserved two vaulted rooms, the outer walls and the Monastery of Saint Nikolaos, which was built later.
