Paradisi is a village located on the northwest side of the island and next to the “Diagoras” International Airport. It is 15 kilometers from the city of Rhodes and combines the modern with the traditional element. It began to be created in the Middle Ages when the Grand Master Helion de Villeneuve built his castle in the area and gave the original name to the village which was Villanova. In 1947 it got its current name which is believed to have originated from the “Paradise Gardens” area where the castle was built.
Paradisi is famous for the cultivation of strawberries, which is why every year on the first Sunday of May the strawberry festival takes place. The village has several accommodations, restaurants and cafes. From Paradisi beach which is nearby you can enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets of the island.
