Welcome to the Rhodes Jazz Festival 2024. The multidimensional program of the 9th Rhodes Jazz Festival hosts 22 artists from England, Italy and Greece who invite us to travel through sounds of the experimental jazz music scene of London, the characteristic sound of the Organ as presented in 1955 by Jimmy Smith, the guitar of Jim Hall and Varney Kessel and a unique tribute to Michel Legrand.
The Rhodes Jazz Festival, since its foundation in 2015, has been an active cell of the local community where, through its actions, it connects the musical community and artists of the South Aegean on the one hand with the global music scene, and on the other hand, it supports society and the economy of the region, offering a unique experience for the residents and visitors of Rhodes by leveraging local partners.
As part of the festival, pop up events are held by artists who live and work in Rhodes as well as actions that highlight the unique landscapes of the island of Rhodes.
From this year Rhodes Jazz Festival connects music with environmental empathy, awakening and mobilization and is associated with the organization “Gia tin Fisi” supporting its environmental work in reforestation, actions for the coasts and environmental educations.
In this spirit and the poster of the festival where it presents a work by Dimitris Kontaratos from the exhibition “Liquid Shadows”, which wants to awaken and make society aware of the loss of a unique symbol of the island, the Platoni deer (Dama – dama) from the catastrophic fires experienced by Rhodes in 2023.
The Rhodes Jazz Festival is held under the auspices and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and in co-organization with the Region of South Aegean, the Municipality of Rhodes – DOPAR, the Dodecanese Chamber and Arte Con Anima. It is also supported by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Dodecanese and Europe Direct South Aegean.
