Sianna Village

Description

Amphitheatrically built in the slope of Mount. Acramitis, 70km away from Rhodos town, in the southwest of the island, lies the little village of Sianna.
Sianna has been declared as a traditional settlement and it’s mostly famous for its pure, locally produced honey and the local traditional drink of “Souma”.
The place also constitutes a popular attraction for tourists with religious interests because of the imposing church of St. Panteleimon, in the centre of the village. The exceptional architecture and the beautiful hagiographies are distinguishing features of this church.
Visitors can also taste mouth-watering traditional dishes and desserts at the quaint little restaurants while mingling with the few, warm-hearted and hospitable locals.
While being in the area, don’t miss to explore the protected ancient settlement of “Kymisala”, a nature monument (NATURA 2000), where one can encounter rare species of the local flora and fauna.
Last but not least, the little monastery of Theotokos the Life-giving Spring, standing in the heart of a beautiful pine forest, is definitely worth visiting!
