A quiet settlement with few and hospitable inhabitants, who maintain the traditions of the village to this day. At the entrance of the village you will find the chapel of Agios Athanasios with stunning views.
In the village square, don’t miss visiting the Church of Agios Merkourios, with a beautiful wood-carved iconostasis and pebbled floor. Also, towards the end of the village there is the chapel of Agios Merkourios, built in the 17th century AD. over the remains of a Byzantine monastery.
The natural beauty of this place makes it one of the most popular destinations for nature lovers, especially for those who like hiking and mountain biking.
The magnificent forest in Istrios village boasts a rich flora and fauna. It’s protected by the European Natura 2000 Network and serves as a habitat for the Dama Dama deer, also known as Platoni of Rhodes.
