August Full Moon in Rhodes: Experience the Magic
August Full Moon in Rhodes: Experience the Magic
Every August, Greece transforms into an open-air celebration under the light of the full moon — and 2025 will be no exception. The Greek Ministry of Culture is once again organizing the August Full Moon events this year, managed by the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage. On the night of the Full Moon, Saturday, August 9, 2025, guests will have the chance to visit selected archaeological sites throughout the country at no cost.
August Full Moon in Rhodes
In Rhodes Island, the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes in Medieval Town will welcome visitors from 19:30 until midnight, offering free admission. Guests can access the museum from the entance of Ippoton Street. Discover centuries of history as the moonlight highlights the Gothic arches and stone courtyards, crafting a magical atmosphere that takes you back in time.
Also, the Rhodes Hiking Group is organizing a serene 30-minute walk under the light of the Oxyrhynchus Moon along the coast of Rhodes Town. The walk will start at 20:00 from the port of Akantia, leading participants to the picturesque beach of Psaropoula.
Moonrise Over the Island
The Sturgeon Moon will rise over the Aegean around 8:25 PM, casting its glow over Mandraki harbor, the Old Town’s ancient walls, Lindos’ whitewashed houses, and the east coastline.
Whether you spend the evening exploring the museum or watching the moon climb the horizon from Lindos, August Full Moon in Rhodes offers one of the most romantic experiences in Greece.
