Prophet Elias Chapel

Sitting on a hill above the charming Koskinou village, just 7 km from Rhodes Town, Prophet Elias Chapel (Profitis Ilias) offers stunning panoramic views over Kallithea in a peaceful setting.

Although the present chapel is of relatively recent construction, embedded coats of arms dating from the Knights of Rhodes suggest it was built on the site of an earlier church, adding historical significance to this scenic landmark.

The beautifully paved courtyard provides an ideal place to pause and admire the sweeping views. Inside, the walls are richly decorated with frescoes depicting Orthodox saints and scenes from the life of Christ. Particularly striking are the murals of Prophet Elias, featured in both the narthex and the main church, while an elegant carved wooden iconostasis completes the interior.

Thanks to its stunning hilltop location and tranquil atmosphere, the chapel is a popular venue for weddings and baptisms.

Feast Day and Panigyri of Prophet Elias in Koskinou

The chapel honors the feast of Prophet Elias on July 20, with special Divine Liturgies taking place on both July 19 and 20. On the evening of July 19, a vibrant festival unfolds, featuring traditional music and dance, welcoming both locals and visitors from all over Rhodes.
