Prophet Elias Chapel

Description

Prophet Elias Chapel in Faliraki (Profitis Ilias), set on the Rhodes east coast at an altitude of about 500 meters, is one of the island most serene viewpoints. It lies 16 km from Rhodes Town and just 2 km from the heart of Faliraki.

From its hilltop perch, you can enjoy expansive views of Faliraki, Ladiko Bay, and the famous Anthony Quinn Bay—a landscape where pine-covered hills meet the sparkling Aegean Sea.

Built between 1850 and 1855, the chapel is simple yet deeply atmospheric. Upon entering, you will notice a plain wooden iconostasis and a variety of historic and contemporary icons that embody the serene spirituality of Greek Orthodox worship. The icons of Prophet Elias and the Virgin Mary are particularly impressive.

In addition to its religious importance, the Prophet Elias Chapel in Faliraki has become a beloved venue for weddings and baptisms, appreciated for its intimate ambiance and breathtaking views.

It is easily accessible by car or motorbike, but drivers should be cautious on the steep road leading up to it.
