Dedicated to the patron saint of Kattavia, the Church of Saint Paraskevi is a single-aisled basilica that reflects the enduring spiritual traditions of southern Rhodes. Its elegant white bell tower rises above a beautifully maintained courtyard, where colourful flowers, shady trees, and traditional pebble mosaics create a calm and welcoming setting for visitors.
Inside, the church reveals an impressive collection of frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ alongside revered Orthodox saints. The richly carved wooden iconostasis, designed in the distinctive Ottoman Baroque style, is adorned with rare icons and fine craftsmanship.
A particular highlight is the revered silver icon of Saint Paraskevi, covered with devotional offerings left by generations of pilgrims, while the beautifully crafted Royal Door is considered one of the finest examples found in a church on Rhodes.
The Feast of Saint Paraskevi is celebrated each year on July 26. On the evening of July 25 and 26 in the village square, one of the best-known traditional festivals in South Rhodes takes place, attracting both locals and visitors with its lively atmosphere, cultural traditions, and warm village hospitality.
