Description
Experience the authentic spirit of Rhodes at the 4th Giareni Festival, taking place on Saturday, August 8, at 8:30 PM in the traditional mountain village of Apollona.
The festival honors the Giareni, a unique Rhodian custom symbolizing friendship, solidarity, and heartfelt hospitality. Passed down through generations, this enduring tradition reflects the strong community values that continue to shape village life today.
Visitors are invited to discover the authentic flavors of Apollona, with local products and traditional wood-fired recipes, including goat with black-eyed peas and vetch, accompanied by regional wines and spirits. Throughout the evening, live music by the orchestra of Christina Koza and Giannis Kladakis and traditional dancing creates a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
The Giareni Festival offers a memorable cultural experience in the heart of rural Rhodes. It is an ideal opportunity to explore local traditions, enjoy genuine Greek hospitality and discover one of the island’s most authentic summer celebrations.
The Giareni Festival is organized by the Cultural Association of Apollona “Neoi Orizontes”, with the valuable support of the Municipality of Rhodes, the Region of South Aegean, the local community and the Federation of Cultural Associations of Rhodes.
