Description
Experience the authentic spirit of rural Rhodes at the 17th Farmer and Shepherd Festival, taking place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 8:00 PM in the charming village of Monolithos.
This much-loved annual festival pays tribute to the island’s farmers and shepherds—the people whose hard work and traditions have shaped Rhodian life for generations.
The evening will feature folk dances performed by the Embonas Cultural Association “Attavyros”, as well as live music from traditional musicians from Crete and Rhodes, keeping the celebration going late into the evening.
No village festival in Rhodes is complete without exceptional local food. Visitors can savour homemade traditional dishes lovingly prepared by the women of Monolithos, including slow-cooked goat in tomato sauce, stuffed vine leaves (dolmadakia), and a variety of authentic Rhodian delicacies.
As a special treat, complimentary servings of yoghurt with local honey, homemade custard, and creamy rice pudding will be offered throughout the evening.
The Farmer and Shepherd Festival in Monolithos is organized by the Cultural Association of Monolithos “Nea Zoi” with the valuable support of the Region of South Aegean, the Municipality of Rhodes, the Local Community of Monolithos and the Federation of Cultural Associations of Rhodes.
