Description
The tiny, picturesque village of Mandriko in southwestern Rhodes invites you to the 1st Katimeri and Hortopita Festival, taking place on 3 October 2026 at 7:30 PM in the courtyard of the Holy Trinity Church.
The people of the village will demonstrate how to prepare Katimeri, a traditional Rhodian pancake served with honey and walnuts, as well as Hortopita, a delicious local pie made with fresh seasonal wild greens and feta cheese.
These dishes are particularly associated with the southwestern part of Rhodes, especially the villages around Mount Attavyros, where local culinary traditions have been preserved over the generations. There will also be other traditional delicacies for visitors to sample throughout the evening.
The celebration continues well into the night with live traditional music, singing and dancing, offering visitors the chance to experience the warm hospitality and vibrant traditions of rural Rhodes.
