Rhodes Medieval Rose Festival

The 19th Rhodes Medieval Rose Festival will captivate visitors this year from October 9 to October 11, featuring parades and performances along the main streets and squares of the Medieval Town of Rhodes.

For three magical days, Rhodes Island will come alive with the sights, sounds, and traditions of the Middle Ages. Visitors can enjoy spectacular parades, music and dance performances, historical reenactments, medieval games, sword fighting, and demonstrations of traditional crafts, all set against the atmospheric streets and squares of the Rhodes Old Town.

The festival opens with an evening presentation in Greek by HEMA sword trainer Thanasis Diamantis, exploring European medieval swordsmanship and its fascinating connection to the present day.

Big Medieval Staged Parade
Our Lady of the Burgh Church & Medieval Town

The afternoon begins with a lively Medieval Staged Parade starting from the Church of Our Lady of the Burgh and making its way through the streets of the Medieval Town. Visitors will encounter staged sword fighting, stilt walkers, dances, and other performances, with special stops at Museum Square, Ippokratous Square, and Evreon Martyron Square. The parade will follow the route of Aristotelous, Apellou, Ippoton, Orfeos, and Socratous streets.

Medieval Staged Parade & Medieval Living History Park
Medieval Town & Alchadef Park

Sunday begins with a non-stop Medieval Staged Parade starting from the Church of Our Lady of the Burgh following the route of Aristotelous, Apellou, Ippoton, Orfeos, and Socratous streets. The parade will lead to Alchadef Park, where the Medieval Living History Park will welcome visitors for an afternoon of entertainment, discovery, and historical experiences.

The park will feature artistic performances with music and dance, historical reenactments, medieval games and sports, including historical board games, archery, chess and sword fighting, as well as workshops showcasing traditional crafts such as pebble mosaic, weaving, mosaic making, rope making, and the art of stained glass. A small medieval-style tavern will also serve period-inspired refreshments and snacks.

Closing Event: “Anastasia the Heroine” & Medieval Music Concert
Our Lady of the Burgh Church (Panagia tou Bourgou)

The Medieval Festival of Rhodes will conclude with “Anastasia the Heroine,” a short performance inspired by a legendary story from Rhodes dating back to 1522 AD, followed by a Medieval Music Concert.
