Although the Church of Saint Nicholas is the village’s main parish church, Agia Marina Chapel remains a powerful symbol of local identity and religious tradition. Surrounded by pine and cypress trees, the picturesque chapel features a tiled roof, an integrated bell tower, and a peaceful courtyard that invites visitors to pause and reflect.
Its simple interior is enhanced by a traditional pebble-stone floor and a modest gilded wooden iconostasis. The chapel’s most valuable treasures are two rare, large icons of Saint Marina, displayed in wall niches beside the sanctuary. Together with the icons of Christ and the Virgin Mary, they are believed to date from 1757.
Each year, on July 17, Paradeisi honors Saint Marina with a vibrant religious celebration. The festivities start on the evening of July 15, with the chapel hosting one of the island’s most popular traditional festivals, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Rhodes’ local culture, warm hospitality, music, and a festive atmosphere.
