Although the chapel was only consecrated on 15 July 1975, it has become one of the most cherished religious landmarks in the area. Saint Anna Chapel holds special significance for the local community of the village of Kalavarda, who honor the saint with deep devotion.
Outside, visitors will find wooden benches and a shaded pergola, offering a quiet place to relax and enjoy the tranquil woodland setting. The natural surroundings make the chapel an ideal stop for those exploring the scenic countryside of western Rhodes.
Inside, the chapel is adorned with beautiful frescoes depicting Orthodox saints. A finely carved gilded shrine houses the icon of Saint Anna holding the Virgin Mary, while the intricately carved iconostasis is highlighted by an impressive icon of the Holy Trinity above the Royal Doors.
Saint Anna Chapel celebrates its feast day on July 25. On the evening of July 24 , the annual traditional festival brings together locals and visitors for live music, dancing and authentic local food, making it one of the largest and most popular cultural celebrations in the area.
