Just 15 kilometres from Rhodes Town, the newly built Saint Phanourios Chapel (Agios Fanourios) stands on a small hill at the edge of Paradisi Village, offering peaceful surroundings and views towards the sea and airport.
Entirely clad in stone, the chapel has a charming courtyard with trees, flowers, benches and stone-built seating walls. It is a quiet spot to pause and enjoy the open landscape around Paradisi.
The chapel’s simple, low bell tower is notably different from traditional Greek church belfries. Beside it, a stone fountain decorated with an icon of Saint Phanourios adds a local touch.
Inside, there are no frescoes; instead, the chapel is decorated with portable icons. Its standout element is a small but beautifully crafted wood-carved iconostasis. On the right-hand wall, a separate carved wooden icon stand holds the revered icon of Agios Fanouris.
Feast Day and Panigyri of Agios Fanourios in Paradisi
The chapel celebrates its feast day on 27 August. On the evening before, its courtyard hosts a traditional panigyri, with music, dancing and local food, attracting visitors who gather to honor the saint in a warm, community atmosphere.
